Only recently it leaked that Black Manta is the villain in "Aquaman" and is supposed to make life difficult for the title hero, played by Jason Momoa. Now the actor may already be known for the role.

The Australian daily newspaper The Daily Telegraph now reports that the production of James Wan's comic book adaptation "Aquaman" is to take place on the fifth continent. According to the newspaper, pre-production is to begin at the end of 2016, and filming will then take place in Australia in the course of 2017. In their report, the colleagues also list the cast of the film, apparently revealing who is playing the villain. In addition to leading actor Jason Momoa and Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe, who also appear in “Justice League” for the first time, according to the Daily Telegraph Michael K. Williams already on board.

The actor known as Omar from the series classic "The Wire" and among others from "Boardwalk Empire" as well as the movies "RoboCop" and "The Road" embodies Black Manta according to the report. The character created by the comic book writers Bob Haney and Nick Cardy was last seen as the main villain for "Aquaman". Black Manta hates the sea and everything related to it, and so does Aquaman. Driven by revenge, he develops a deadly high-tech suit that allows him, among other things, to breathe underwater and thus encounter Aquaman in its territory with all sorts of destructive weapons.

“Aquaman” is slated to hit theaters in summer 2018. "Fast & Furious 7" director James Wan is responsible for the adaptation of the comic. The character of Jason Momoa played Aquaman was already seen in "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" and will be properly introduced in "Justice League" (theatrical release: November 16, 2017).
