First talk with the KiWu Clinic, then when is ICSI?

Written by einkindfuernina86 on 07/23/2020, 11:33 a.m.

Hello everybody,

First of all, briefly about our history
My husband: Is 30. Two years ago my husband did body boulding.
briefly to me: I am 33. Eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly. Got a cylinder like clockwork. I have middle pain. Speak like in a picture book. US made by the womb - everything is fine. Slime house 8-9mm.
So now to the problem: My husband has on July 8th. Get results from his SG. Very bad. There is hardly any sperm and those that are still there are immobile. 2nd week of August renewed delivery of sperm + blood (including hormone test). Urologist is informed about the past of my husband.

On the 23.09. Appointment made at the KIWU Clinic Hamburg. Two months until then
I can hardly wait for it to start. The fertility expert at urbia immediately recommended artificial insemination (ICSI).
What do you think, from experience, how long does it take after the first meeting until something happens? Could the first attempt at fertilization be started this year ???

Thank you very much for your time and answers
LG Nina

Maybe it could still work this year. It happened pretty quickly for me back then. Now, however, Corona is still included. In any case, you have to give blood again to the KiWu Clinic and your husband has to give up sperm again.
Then the health insurance company has to sign it if you don't want to pay everything yourself and then you can actually start. Provided there are no Corona restrictions.

Hello Nina ,

First of all, good luck for your difficult and sometimes hard way! I took part in 2 ICSIs myself and am now in the 11th week. With us it was also the semen.

So when the first round starts depends on so many factors.
We still had to change health insurance because more is covered if both spouses are in one ... that meant waiting 2 months ... then my husband had to go to an andrologist for an examination (his urologist did not have this additional training) ... then she wanted Clinic that we go to a geneticist because we are already over 35 to clarify there whether there are abnormalities in our DNA that could lead to problems in the child .. then Christmas was just around the corner .. so we were and are for the first interview in August then started with the first attempt in January. Thanks to Corona we had to wait until May until the second attempt .. but everything ends well, or as the saying goes

I think if you only have two more examinations before the clinic gives you ok then it will certainly take a maximum of 2 months and that means this year should still work.

Incidentally, I personally brought the application for the health insurance company to cover costs and after 30 minutes they had already confirmed everything and given it to me again.
It's worth going there personally because it'll be faster. Of course, only if you want to apply to the health insurance company for something. Your Kiwu will then give you the application.

Hi, first of all thanks for your nice and encouraging answer. And of course, congratulations

We have already terminated our current KK and are waiting for the written confirmation. insured with Bahn BKK. They take over the costs for the desire to have children 6 months retrospectively. That fits then from the period. I have to see if they have a branch in Hamburg. Handing in the documents in person would of course make sense.
Yes with my husband it is probably because of his supplementation that he introduced himself during his time as a bodybuilder. Trenbolone, Testo Enanthate ... etc. In 2013 his semen was good and 7 years later it wasn't. Well, come on.
Hopefully there is only the ultrasound and blood draw there. On August 4th Appointment at the gynecologist, doing an ultrasound and still having to discuss the whole thing with her, need a referral to the KIWU clinic.

Hopefully it won't take long before the first attempts are made.

Hey - I can totally understand that you'd rather get started today than tomorrow - but some diagnostics make sense. Because if you otherwise "waste" the attempts, it is also stupid. With us they needed 2 spermiograms at an interval of 3 months, as these can fluctuate from time to time. Then there are blood tests, hormone determination etc ..: but nevertheless it should work this year with the first attempt!

Hello,
good luck first.
We had to bring 2 SG's with us to the KiWu-Klinik with an interval of approx. 3 months, all results from blood tests etc .. My husband had to go to the andrologist, luckily his urologist has this training.
The clinic did its own diagnostics again. So blood draw, SG, US, etc.
Afterwards, the entire results were discussed with us in a further appointment and a treatment plan for ICSI was drawn up. (With us it's because of the sperm)
I personally brought the treatment plan to the KK one day later. I was told that the current processing time would be 3 weeks, we were lucky a week later the approval came.
So we could make an appointment in the clinic and start. That was in September, we had the first appointment in early July. We had already changed KK before, and the genetic analyzes, DNA, etc. had already been done with us six months beforehand, as we had already done.
The first attempt did not work, unfortunately, after that we had to pause 2-3 months so that the body could recover, then it was Christmas, so the second attempt was in January and we are now in the 29th week of pregnancy with our two miracles.
I can only agree with the previous speaker, I can totally understand that you want to start as soon as possible, but the examinations make sense and the clinics do this for a reason, after all, the best possible treatment should be found, including what medis etc.
And one more thing, don't despair if it doesn't work the first time, unfortunately that is the case with most of them.

Congratulations!!! How nice!
Many Thanks! It cheers me up that this year there could be something with the first attempts.

On July 3rd, my husband handed in his sample. And then he should give the second sample 6 weeks later to the urologist (there is an andrologist in their practice) - speak now in mid-August.

When we on the 23.09. at the first interview, let's say at the end of September / beginning of October, new samples are needed by SP, then they have two tests every 3 months let's see if they accept it that way.

It depends on what day of the cycle you have the conversation. You can assume that you can start in the next cycle after the first interview. Downregulation will begin. I don't know what day anymore. Then, when the menstruation starts, you start with the injections. Then another ultrasound is done to see how the eggs grow and the day of the puncture is determined. The transfer is 2 days later. Then you have to wait 14 days and drink tea until the test. So a total of about a month.
I hope the information is correct. I wish you luck

So we had our first appointment yesterday. We received a folder in advance. There was a list of what we should bring with us. Then two questionnaires for him and me. And a brochure where a lot has already been explained. Then we had the interview, after which I was examined again. And then blood was drawn from us and we had to give up urine. The conversation was pretty sobering for us, but I felt that I was in good hands. And you should both have a referral. And have your gynecologist print out everything she has already done about your desire to have children.
