Summary

The well-known work by R. Geiger "The climate of the ground near air layer" has appeared in the second, completely revised edition (Braunschweig 1942), as well as Laatsch "Dynamic of German Acker- und Waldboden" (2nd edition, Dresden and Leipzig 1944). The German translation of the 3rd edition by GW Robinson "The Soils, Their Origin, Composition and Classification" (499 pages, Berlin 1939) should be referred to later, as this book deals in detail with the soil types that are so important to ecologists from all over the world . Many ecologically important questions can be found in the "Introduction to the Problems of Agricultural Meteorology" by F. Schnelle (Ulmer, 1948). The phenological map of the winter wheat harvest in Europe is also new. The general site theory is dealt with by H. Walter in Volume III of the “Introduction to Phytology”, with the 1st delivery discussing the heat factor (Ulmer, 1949), while the 2nd delivery is reserved for the water factor. Relevant foreign works could not yet be viewed.

A number of works that were published before 1945 and should be presented here have been lost due to the war. You could z. T. cannot be recovered. The authors are asked to send them again so that the discussion can be made up in the next volume (address of the Ref .: Botanical Institute of the Agricultural University, (14a) Stuttgart-Hohenheim.).
