What is Bhadrachalam famous for

With a giant leap we came back to the north of Andhra Pradesh on the banks of the holy river Godavari and found an old Rama temple complex in Bhadrachalam. The old temple has been severely mutilated by time, weather and violent destruction. They have been trying to rebuild everything for 20 years. The area is very poor, so the work is only progressing slowly. Everything that pilgrims and visitors sacrifice or donate here goes into the construction of the temple. Not far from here (a day trip upriver) also on the banks of the Godavari is a small place called Parnasala. According to the Ramayana, Sita, Rama and his brother Laxmana lived here in exile for 14 years. When Rama wanted to catch a golden deer in the jungle, Rama's wife Sita was kidnapped by the demon king Ravana to Sri Lanka. Here you can also admire the rocks on which the colored imprint of Sitas Saree can be seen. Here Sita dried her clothes after washing. Downstream are other places mentioned in the Ramayana. So we went down the river on Godavari steamers, that is the name of the cargo boats that operate on the river between Rajamundry and Bhadrachalam.
