Inserting math symbols

In Word, you can use the formula tools to insert math symbols into formulas or text.

  1. Click the tab Insert in the group Symbols on the arrow below formula, and then click Insert a new formula.

  2. Click below Formula tools on the tab design in the group Symbols on the arrow Further.

  3. Click the arrow next to the symbol set name, and then select the symbol set that you want to view.

  4. Click the symbol you want to insert.

Available symbol sets

The following mathematical symbol sets are in the group Symbols available in Word. After clicking the arrow, click Further on the menu at the top of the symbol list to display the individual symbol groups.
