For most users, however, one question is particularly interesting: Will my smartphone or tablet still receive the update to Android 12? Which manufacturers have already promised to update? We collect the planned and probable update dates in our list. Current status: May 20, 2021

Android 12: update list

Our update list for Android 12 is sorted alphabetically by manufacturer and then by device name. Few announcements are fixed at the current status. In addition to update promises, we therefore rely on empirical values as to which smartphones could receive the update. Of course, we cannot give firm guarantees. We are constantly adding new information about updates.

Asus: Android 12 update

Asus will likely update its current and future flagships to Android 12. In terms of speed, the results have recently been mixed: the Zenfone series was recently supplied with beta versions and updates early on, while Asus is taking its time with the gaming smartphones of the ROG series.

  • Asus ZenFone 7: probably
  • Asus ZenFone 7 Pro: probably

Google: Android 12 update

As always, the smartphones of the Pixel series will be the first to receive the Android 12 update. The updates are guaranteed for at least three years from the date of inclusion in the Google Store. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will therefore not receive Android 12, and there have been no security updates since December 2020.

Honor: Android 12 update

After Huawei sells Honor, the future is open. In theory, the manufacturer should now have full access to the Android license again. To what extent Honor will use this to supply old models with Android 12 remains to be seen.

Huawei: Android 12 update

At Huawei, the update situation is still difficult to predict. The change in government in the USA could ease the sanctions, which could enable unhindered cooperation with Google again. But at the same time, Huawei has set the course for its own operating system with Harmony OS, with which one can act undisturbed by further developments in the trade conflict.

LG: Android 12 update

Despite the announced exit from the smartphone market, LG promises three Android version updates for the G and V series smartphones as well as Velvet and Wing from 2019, while the 2020 models of the Stylo and K series are to receive two updates. According to the current timetable, many models will only receive the update to Android 11 towards the end of 2021, so Android 12 could take even longer. On the website of LG Korea (via Phonearena) there is at least a list of smartphones that should receive Android 12 and Android 13. Some of these are models that are not available in Germany or are sold under a different name.

Motorola: Android 12 update

So far, Motorola has been quiet about updates to Android 11. Predictions for Android 12 are therefore still difficult. At least Android 12 updates could be expected for smartphones starting with Android 11 in 2021. To what extent current models will receive another update to Android 11 remains to be seen.

OnePlus: Android 12 update

OnePlus' smartphones actually have a reputation for being supplied with updates quickly and for a long time. However, with the expansion of its product portfolio to include the cheaper Nord series, OnePlus has announced a change in its update policy. While OnePlus continues to provide its flagships with at least two Android updates, mid-range smartphones such as the Nord N10 5G and Nord 100 will only receive one Android update. The first beta version of Android 12 was withdrawn shortly after the start after problems.

Oppo: Android 12 update
