Who is Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

In 1955, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi came from the Indian Himalayas with a completely different understanding of meditation than what was previously thought of.

After completing his physics degree, Maharishi lived for thirteen years at the side of one of the most important Vedic teachers of his time: Swami Brahmananda Saraswati - also known as Guru Dev. Through studying with his master and his own experiences, he realized that the mind should not come to inner calm by compulsion, but through its own nature.

When Maharishi was asked if he would give lectures on his experiences and knowledge, he saw the enormous interest in them. Over the years he has traveled to numerous countries to share his knowledge. The media picked up the topic and spread it. Through Maharishi, the term meditation and the possibility of developing consciousness became known worldwide.

Since then, around ten million people from almost every country in the world, from all educational backgrounds, religious traditions and ideological backgrounds have learned the technique of Transcendental Meditation.

It is Maharishi's merit that he succeeded not only in making the meditation technique suitable for everyday use, but also in structuring the training of teachers. This systematic approach ensures that Transcendental Meditation can be taught correctly and unadulterated all over the world. The personal experience during meditation is extremely subtle. In order to practice TM correctly and effectively, careful instruction is required, which can only be guaranteed by certified TM teachers.
