Are there any good organic foundation brands

MADE BY MUTTER NATUROrganic cosmetics in check

The cosmetic products from Dr. Hauschka, Weleda & Co. now fill longer shelves than their conventional siblings. Whether we call them organic, natural or “organic” cosmetics, natural care and make-up are absolutely trendy. But do all the flowery words keep what they promise? Natural cosmetics under the microscope.

Natural cosmetics have long ceased to be a niche segment. On the contrary: organic has developed into a real boom. But it is not just the love of greenery that makes nature so successful in the crucible. Human needs are behind the success of natural cosmetics. Because many simply cannot tolerate chemical substances on their skin. Classic skin reactions to chemical ingredients range from itching and redness to allergic reactions.

Straight to the best natural cosmetics brands

The chemistry is to blame: flop active ingredients

The most common triggers of physical defense reactions are preservatives, such as formaldehyde. These plastics are used to make cosmetics last longer; But it has little to do with the principle of sustainability. On the contrary: the preserving essences are known to irritate the mucous membranes and are sometimes even suspected of being cancerous.

Other cosmetic chemistry clubs are artificial fragrances (mostly polycyclic musk compounds) and paraffins, i.e. petroleum products, which are often used as an inexpensive substitute for high-quality vegetable oils. In high concentrations it is possible that they impair skin breathing and thus cause irritation.

Silicone has also fallen into disrepute. Although it makes creams wonderfully soft and easy to spread, as a synthetic substance it is not biodegradable. Silicones are found particularly in hair conditioners and care cures because they make the hair supple. Unfortunately, you also complain. The volume goes flutes, but the silicone does not because it can no longer be washed out.

The entire chemical mix makes modern cosmetics snow-white, soft cotton wool and lasts longer, but there is just as often an increasing risk of allergies and intolerances in the depths of the jar.

Test of organic make-up

Not everything that shines green on the packaging is natural. The magazine Eco test checked 23 liquid make-ups for questionable ingredients. The liquid organic make-ups from Dr. Hauschka (Translucent Make-up), Lavera (Natural Liquid Foundation), Annemarie Börlind (Make-up Liquid) and Sante (Soft Cream Foundation). The organic label Logona received the grade “good”.

Back to basic: natural cosmetics

Fewer and fewer cosmetics consumers want to let the artificial chemical mix on their skin, which is why more and more companies are following nature's path. Good natural cosmetics companies make sure that all raw materials they use come from controlled organic cultivation or strictly managed wild collection. The selection and extraction of natural substances is carried out carefully and conscientiously by reputable natural cosmetics labels. For example, only vegetable oils from the first pressing are used, as they contain the highest levels of care substances and vitamins.

In addition, essential oils are obtained in a complex distillation process and guarantee maximum purity and optimal compatibility. Preservatives are avoided as far as possible (therefore natural cosmetics should be used up within 2 to 3 months); Synthetic ingredients and raw materials from dead animals are not used. Of course, animal experiments are also taboo.

Caution: Only companies that meet BDHI guidelines produce 100% natural cosmetics. If you want to be sure, look out for this certificate.

Nature in the crucible: effect and miracle

Nevertheless, one shouldn't imagine innovative natural cosmetics like those from grandmother's herb garden. Modern research has developed active plant substances that are in no way inferior to their chemical counterparts in terms of benefits and effects. The only difference is that the raw materials come directly from the plant and are not obtained from petroleum.

Phytohormones from soy or red clover, for example, are very promising. These plant estrogens activate cells that lack hormonal impulses and therefore make the skin appear slack and tense. Active ingredients that were already used in traditional Chinese medicine have now been rediscovered and further developed. For example, the medicinal mushroom Trametes Versicolor is used in organic cosmetics to naturally prevent pigment spots.

Natural flavors: the new organic perfumes

In addition to natural cosmetics, a new trend is currently on the rise. Eco-perfumes, herbal fragrances on a biological basis, are becoming more and more popular with organic friends. They are made by evaporating the water from the plants in a complicated extraction process and then condensing it. The liquid (plant sap) obtained has a natural compatibility with the skin and contains a balanced mixture of fragrant, essential oils, trace elements, mineral salts and vitamins. Often an organic bouquet does not keep its odor on the skin as long due to a lack of preservatives, but the fragrance nuances are more harmonious and clearer. It is even said that organic perfumes are better perceived and perceived by the human realm center because of their naturalness.

Beautiful nails by nature

The research and trends in natural cosmetics go even further. In the meantime, there has even been a small breakthrough. For a long time, the development of a nail polish without synthetic was considered extremely complicated. But the US label “Priti NYC” has meanwhile brought a paint onto the market that is based on purely organic substances. A trend that is difficult to obtain in this country, but has an offensive effect. Because at the same time, the Berlin label “Uslu Airlines” has developed a nail polish remover that is made on a purely biological basis.

And that's not all. There are more than 800,000 plant species worldwide, only about a quarter of which have been researched so far. Who else knows a lot of beauty can be found here? So far, we only know one thing for sure: we don't need chemistry to be beautiful.
